I’m very excited to be taking over Hive Co-working’s new blog this week 🙂
I enjoy writing (a throwback to my fashion journalism course at The London College of Fashion perhaps) and I’m so happy to have found a job where it’s really important.
I am freelance Facebook and Instagram Ad strategist. ‘What?’ I hear you cry! Quite simply I go beyond the boost/promote button and use Facebook & Instagram’s incredibly sophisticated Ads Manager platform to create long term, profitable ad campaigns for my clients.
I won’t bore you with talk of funnels or retargeting stacks but suffice to say my work digs deep into detailed audience personas for each client, and involves a lot of copywriting and use of visual creative.
I love that my job is 50% creative, 50% geek and that I can draw a direct line between my ad campaigns and revenue.
I work under the name Planet B Social. Our planet, including our eco-systems and the people who populate them, are incredibly important to me. A couple of years ago I decided to niche into working with planet-friendly, ethical brands who are ready to scale. As a long-term small business owner myself, it makes me super happy to be able to support others now, especially in this sustainable space.
So, why do I cowork?
I have lots of contact with my clients but it’s mainly over video calls or email, and so Hive Coworking is like a lifeline to me. I am an office creature at heart, and although I’ve got used to not commuting to London daily (finally, after 5 years) I miss the daily routine of ‘being’ somewhere.
The Hive is a space I can concentrate & be productive, but also somewhere I can ask for support or opinions, or get recommendations for my next Netflix binge!
There is a fantastic mix of regulars and ad-hoc users, and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming.
Co-founders Jo & Caroline have created the perfect work idyll, complete with socials, business networking events and free toast. Yes, FREE TOAST people!
As well as working with my main clients (who tend to be e-commerce brands looking to scale) I also like to support smaller organisations and startups.
I recently helped Plastic Free Whitstable in their launch of the reusable cup scheme (I created a Facebook & Instagram strategy & ran it to their organic socials for a month.)
I also really enjoy my one-to-one sessions or Power-Hours (which I offer in-person or over Zoom video calls). It’s great to be able to help with any specific Instagram or Facebook queries, or to give guidelines re: creating organic strategies.
And on the 26th March, I’m teaming up with 2 other Digital businesses to run an event at The Hive called Connecting the Digital Dots.
It’s all about clarifying how and why all the digital parts of the puzzle (branding, websites, SEO, email marketing, social) need to work together to be truly successful.
There will also be a ‘deeper dive’ into Branding and an introduction to Facebook & Instagram advertising from me! To boost or not to boost? That is the question!
